Web DesignCase Study / SEPTEMBER 2010
Te Puia, NZMACI, New Zealand
Te Puia's previous website infrastructure was not working - their website, lacked visual appeal and navigation was muddled - neither user-friendly nor search engine friendly. Te Puia made the decision to look for a small web design company of experienced, custom web design developers in Auckland. A company that delivered on all levels - with skills in all areas of web design & development including optimizing & online marketing skills.
AMG WEB DESIGN was commissioned to revamp their existing website, but it was decided that a web revamp was not feasible - and would be a patchwork job at best. So a website design was developed from scratch.
We worked closely with the Te Puia clients right from the start - beginning with an immersion visit and tour of the new high-tech re development of the famous Whakarewarewa New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute.
Website Development - stage 1. Te Kākano
It was decided that their latest cultural project , Te Kākano, deserved a separate website presence with a launch date to coincide with the official visit of the New Zealand Prime Minister and Chinese Ambassador on 18 February. AMG WEB had less than 4 weeks from initial brief to website launch date.
Many hours were spent photographing Te Puia and the various stages of the waka carving, designing a logo and developing the website. The Challenge: To be 'found' online by the time the Shanghai Expo opened on 1 April. After online research, web analysis and search engine optimization, Te Kakano ranked #1 on Google - well ahead of our deadline. AMG set up domain web hosting and content management.
Website Development - stage 2. Te Puia
AMG WEB DESIGN developed a search engine / user friendly website infrastructure and a clean, contemporary custom web design using the strong Māori colours of black, red and white. The web design was in synergy with the Te Kākano website, making use of white space and a clean contemporary design. We provided free hosting setup and will be handling ongoing web content management for Te Puia.
